Modern World History
- The First World War and the Problem of Making PeaceThe First World War destroyed dynastic orders across Europe and the Middle East. Yet the peace did not simply replace four empires with a tidy set of national homes. War, revolution, competing claims and unequal power created new states with new minorities, while overseas imperial rule continued in altered forms.
- Vienna, Nationalism, and the Remaking of EuropeEurope in 1815 was not organized into the familiar collection of nation-states. German-speaking and Italian-speaking populations lived across multiple states, while large dynastic empires governed many languages. The defeat of Napoleon created a choice about how to reconstruct order, not an opportunity to restore an unchanged past.

World Geography
- Europe: Countries, Capitals, and Geographic StructureEurope is a peninsula-rich western extension of Eurasia, not a physically detached continent. Its political map becomes easier to learn by distinguishing Atlantic/Baltic edges, the central plain, the Alpine–Danube corridor, and the Mediterranean peninsulas. A state’s language, EU membership, NATO membership and continental placement are separate layers.
